Big Bench is an outdoor amphitheatre commissioned by the New Art Centre in 2011, as a practical and useful venue for the events organised by the Roche Court Educational Trust.
Following the installation of Big Bench at Roche Court, further amphitheatres have been constructed at The Watts Gallery & Artists’ Village in Compton, Surrey, Frensham Heights School and Ballymaloe Cookery School, Co. Cork, Ireland.
Paloma Gormley and Lettice Drake read architecture at the University of Cambridge, and
co-founded Practice Architecture in 2009. Practice Architecture has a hands-on approach engaging with every stage of a project; inception, programme, design, construction and installation. Notable projects include The Yard Theatre in Hackney Wick, Frank’s Café in Peckham, and Flat House in Cambridgeshire.
