Nika Neelova (b.1987) is an artist who is interested in the way materials and architecture influence our sense of time and place. By employing found objects, Neelova transforms these items into works that challenge the viewer to contemplate their past functional use. In much of her work, the relationship between these objects, human presence, and external architecture remains paramount, often stimulating a connection between a building and an inhabitant. Thus, the past remains a tenet to Neelova’s practice, often allowing the viewer to unearth something meaningful.

Neelova studied at the Royal Art Academy in The Hague, before graduating with an MA in Sculpture from the Slade School of Fine Art in 2011. She has received a number of honours, including: the Kenneth Armitage Young Sculptor Prize, and winning the Saatchi New Sensations. Neelova’s work has been exhibited internationally, including solo shows at the Noire Gallery, Turin, and Vigo Gallery, London; as well as group shows across Europe.
