(1955-) Michael Hischer is a German sculptor who produces kinetic works designed for outdoor spaces. He studied sculpture in Hannover and at the University of the Arts in Berlin. In 1991 he received scholarships from the Karl Hofer Society in Berlin and the Werkstatt Schloss in Wolfsburg. Since then he has exhibited widely in Germany and Europe, and his work can be found in public and private collections. He lives and works in Germany.

Hischer's sculptures are made from stainless steel and aluminium, with moving elements attached centrally to the axles by groove ball bearings. Accurately weighted and finely balanced, so that even the slightest breeze will set them into motion, the wings seem to find their centre weightlessly, alluding to the meditative. The sculptures describe the time that elapses in the motion.

Much of Hischer's work is in collections and on public display in Germany, Spain and Portugal. Recent shows include KiC-Nordart 2009, Rendsburg, Germany; 13. Kunstaktion Berlin-Pankow, Germany; Galerie Linneborn, Berlin, Germany; Galerie Epikur at Art Karlsruhe, Germany.
